Our new house used to be a B&B.

Yes, it takes two pictures to get it all in.
We were attracted to it because of the number of bedrooms (10) and that there are 7 baths. Also because the original part of the house was built in 1896. I've always wanted to live in an old house, with character and charm. This one fits the bill nicely!
Here are some pictures of the neighborhood around us. We're in city limits but there is a nice feel of being out in the country.

The back of the house with a handicap ramp leading into a bedroom on the main floor which is handicap accessible (including the bathroom).
If we were to find out that we are able to keep chickens, THIS would be their new home!

This is the side of the house, but used to be the main entrance of the original home.
Our front yard view.

We're renting and the landlords have kept the rent SUPER low, so we do all repairs. We also can repaint, if we want to/need to.
Here's the 'parlor', as you first walk in the front door:

From here you can turn left into the 1000sf great room or right into what we are calling the den. Here, the den: (note the beautiful hand painted mural on the wall, we don't really want to paint over that, but we've been told we can if we want to.)

That's Dutch in the foreground. He's a beautiful Rhyman Setter.

Boys diligently doing their schoolwork. From this den, you go into a foyer that I think was the original home's front room. I've commandeered this to be my little space.

Beautiful old stairs leading up to the second floor (there's three floors in all)where 7 of the bedrooms are:

Here's the hallway leading to 4 of the 7 rooms:

Ok, now we get to the fun part: the 1000sf Great Room. Sadly, the gorgeous hardwood floor is damaged beyond repair (just had a flooring expert in this afternoon) so we're going to have to do something in here to make it livable and not dangerous. I'm entertaining ideas for both what to do with the floor and also what to do with the grand space.

So fun to be able to see where you are and have a picture in my head now. What fun! Love you guys!
Oh Gail, it is beautiful! I love old houses with original woodwork and hardwood floors. Does all the floor in the great room need to be replaced or just the area in the picture?

Looks great but I wonder what the heating bill we run!
LOVE IT! It is absolutely wonderful! Thanks for all the pictures! I usually just lurk around your blog, but I HAD to comment on this!!!

Glad that you all are settling in nicely. The house looks perfect for your family. I'll bet Randy appreciates having you all there. Abba loves you most. :-)

Wow, did that kitchen REALLY have two stoves and two sinks? It was just waiting for the Heaton family, methinks! ;-D What a great find! Sad that the hardwood floors can't be salvaged, but what a great home!!
Very awesome! THAT would be my dream home. Too bad there was no way for you to draw the floor plans and share :) 10 bedrooms....love it! That much more room for more kids.
Thanks for sharing. Very very beautiful!
